Tales From Quarantine
Alright, nobody is really “having fun” being stuck in the house all the time with events cancelled and no outside interaction. But, everyone is making it work. I was really worried about how I would make it work as a reporter in isolation. My favorite part of the job is going to new places and meeting new people every day. I love the idea that I would never be stuck behind a desk in one place; in essence the whole world is my office! What a view right? Well, the shelter in place order has obviously changed the physical aspect of that, but I’ve still been able to meet new people and tell their stories. Here are some of my favorite tales from quarantine.
Being a Greek girl myself (you probably knew that) I was intrigued when I stumbled upon the FaceBook group “Zoom Sorority and Fraternity.” Online Greek life? Wait…how? Well, it’s surprisingly well run, check it out.
I went to private Catholic school until I came to UNC so I had to laugh and could relate when I saw a family friend’s post on FaceBook of his girls dressed in their uniforms for a day of school from home. Like I said, people aren’t exactly having fun with the world on hold, but there are still plenty of fun ways to pass the day and tell the fun story to others.
So while it’s not the same and the gravity of this situation is very real, people are adapting in impressive and amusing ways. In the midst of this world crisis, carve out some time for communities and stories like these. We can all always use some good news. And it’s even better when it’s coming from John Krasinski.
