Video

I spent a year working as the videographer for my sorority’s philanthropy. Before I took video journalism classes teaching me the rule of thirds and importance of a tripod (and now I cannot stress enough how important a tripod is), I simply enjoyed filming on the go at events. I created short promotional videos prior to and after events raising money for philanthropy.

I have created similar content for clubs and organizations on campus. I filmed and edited a video highlighting “Carolina Serves,” a day of student service hosted by UNC Student Government. I also documented the 2017 day camp event put on by Healthy Girls Save the World Inc., a non-profit serving the Triangle area.

During the fall semester of my sophomore year at UNC (2017), I took a class called Digital Sotrytelling in the School of Media and Journalism. This class involved filming video and creating graphic content. Our assigned theme for our content to explore was North Carolina. I chose to investigate and portray how the most recent protests and boycotts at UNC concerning Silent Sam are affecting current students. This was a year before the fall of the statue and while I have not returned to the story, I had ground level experience investigating the beginning of a movement that is still playing out in Chapel Hill. I have a page dedicated to the work from from Digital Storytelling here.

During the summer of 2018, between my sophomore and junior years at UNC, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to study abroad in Ireland at Dublin City University and intern at bigO agency. While there, I also enjoyed making these two short travel videos. Glendalough is a historical destination in County Wicklow in Ireland featuring the Wicklow Mountains, the valley of the two lakes, and a Monastic site dating back to the 10th-13th century AD. I also joined friends for a beautiful and unforgettable weekend of sight seeing in Paris, France. These amateur travel videos were made for fun and memories and were born out of my love for editing.
